Theatrical Stage Lighting Basics
|
What are some theatrical stage lighting basics?
Theatrical lighting basics include ....
Lighting Design Plot and Patch Sheet - I find that even a concept on paper is a start. The size of your project will determine the size of your plot and system patch.
Fixture and Cable Inventory - Based on the need of your light output, field angle, and use, determine the fixtures you will need and the correct cable to hook it up.
DMX Lighting Console - Depending on the number of DMX channels you will need in order to group and/or control your Dimmers, LEDs, Devices etc., choosing a controller that is flexible with your design is key.
DMX Dimmer or Device - You will need a dimmer or relay to turn on/off your light fixtures, or a LED fixture that changes color, or a moving head spot that has gobos.
Expendables - Have a gel kit that you can file and store your gel in. Keep it organized and it will last a long time.
